Smokeless Cigarette: A Healthier Option for Better Smoking

Changing the landscape of smoking, e-cigarette emerges as a new technique to quiting smoking. E-cigarettes sometimes called e-cigarette, or smokeless cigarette is not really a cigarette but a device that stimulates the same effect of smoking. With it's nicotine cartridges and atomizers or cartomizers, it doesn't emit smoke in air but still provide the same relaxing feeling when smoking tobacco cigarettes.

E-cigarettes are easy to use. You just have to be familiar with its parts:
  1. Power source- it is a battery or wire that is connected and get power from a USB port.
  2. Atomizer- It contains the heating coil that will vaporize the e-liquid
  3. Cartridge- It holds the liquid storage material or the nicotine solution.
  4. Cartomizers- some e-cigarette companies combined atomizer and cartridge in one piece.

For most cases, e-cigarettes are used when the person have decided to quit smoking or reduce consumption of tobacco cigarettes. Though it is not yet evidently proven to be safe (says WHO), clinical studies proved that it is less dangerous than cigarettes. Following justifications are researched based:
  • The only chemical present in  e-cigarettes is nicotine. Nicotine is addictive but it does not pose danger to the human body. And since e-cigarettes are smokeless it won't be a threat to people that surround a smoker. Also, its nicotine content is very minimal that it will take 7 months before accumulation to be of same content level of one stick of tobacco cigarettes.
  • Dr. Konstantinos Farsalinos from Onassis Cardiac Surgery Center in Athens, Greece made a study of 22 healthy people who smoke e-cigarette and tobacco cigarettes for 7 minutes. The study showed that there was no myocardial dysfunction found to those who used e-cigarettes, but shown otherwise to those who used tobacco cigarettes.
  • It is hard to quit smoking. Smoking is a physical and psychological addiction. Cravings after meals and temptation in social smoking are not easy to avoid. The use of e-cigarettes is categorized under Nicotine Replacement Therapy offered for smokers who want to quit.
  • Cheaper- a pack of e-cigarettes can be more expensive than tobacco cigarettes. However, e-cigarettes are reusable and rechargeable.  A nicotine cartridge can last for about the same time consumption of 15 to 20 cigarettes. It will create a huge difference in costs.
  • Comes in many flavor. Cartridges contained e-liquids that can be menthol, apple and strawberry flavored. Aside from that you can choose nicotine strength from full, medium, light or none. You'll have a better taste of smoking.
There are many reasons why you should switch smoking habits to e-cigarettes. It will fill cravings for tobacco but will not give the danger it poses and there will be no secondhand smokers. Lastly, this does not encourage non smokers to smoke any form of smoking techniques. It is intended for smokers to have a better and more fulfilling way of smoking. World Health Organization and other regional health organizations emphasized on quitting smoking rather than quitting e-cigarette smoking. Thus, if you have successfully switched smoking to e-cigarettes, it is a far better off than not trying to solve danger of smoking cigarettes.
